View Full Version : NRV Skyrider Hijacked!

In an RP I'm doing with Sith characters, I am having Artimus (Kieran's dad) work with a fellow Sith apprentice to hijack the Skyrider as it escorts the Republic to the fleet. Kieran and his officers would manage to escape to the Republic onboard Kieran's personal transport, the Devaneaux's Fury....but Artimus would make off with the Skyrider. It is possible that we could attempt to retake the ship at some point, but at least the Republic would reach the fleet.

Just FYI.

I dont think its possible, it's almost certain that we will go after them and track them down before taking the ship back. The NR would never allow something like this to happen.

We will get it back....eventually. Look at it this way: One of my characters is still commanding her. Sure, it isn't THIS one....but it's still me. Sort of. :D

Hijackings are quite possible, no matter how large the ship is. Wedge Antilles has personally led three boarding parties. As this is a Sith Operation, their chance of success is probably greater. ^_^;

If this is going to seem realistic, however, you might want to include a larger team for the actual hijacking; unless the vessel is equipped with extensive slave circuitry (never happens on NR ships), controlling the Skyrider with two people will be next to impossible.

How 'bout support from an Imperial faction. The Sov and the sith are trying to rekindle the old alliance I think. Besides the sov would love to se what the NR is up to.

If the Sov supports this then you can use some of your stealth Corvettes, the Spectres, or whatever they're called to land the Sith and some commandoes aboard.

I believe I have. :) Rear Admiral!?

After the first battle, but before the second one would probably be best, seeing as the NR is trying to get the Republic to the rest of the fleet.

How 'bout having a cruiser or destoyer act as a decoy while the commandoes board the Skyrider.

Say their pretending to be a patroling vessel that notices a few NR ships, then realize that they've bitten off more than they can chew.

TieFighterPilot181st

perhaps you could intercept it intentionally because Imperial Intelligence was able to crack the NR naval codes because we've been getting a bit lax due to our peacetime footing. That'll add more realism to our unpreparedness and such and put us on the defensive which is supposed to happen.

Artimus already has the ship, but he will soon be locked in combat with the Republic. It will be a close battle - the ships are evenly matched. It's when the Imperial reinforcements show up that things get interesting. :D

Will Jorshal be o.k. with this twist?

I'll bring in a Cuirassier-heavy cruiser and a pair of Rapier II gunships, the spectres will only board the vessels, not take part in the fighting.

I think the rear admiral thing was a slip. No-one gets promoted that rapidly.

There, we have normalised his ego.

Go for it. Major Demon-Kieran has received the request from Artimus, and Kieran has sent a call to Yamagi for reinforcements. This should get interesting.....

He he. A republic SD, 3 assault frigates, and two gunships against a Cuirassier and a pair of gunships.

I just realized I screwed myself over.

If you guys need it, I can command the special forces that would have to board the ship to take it.

TieFighterPilot181st

you might be able to use the Defender Teleran in which case the odds are much better. Otherwise just have a couple of other Imp cruisers within the area or something.

Question. Is the skyrider under Sith control? Or are they still trying to reach the bridge?

If it's the former, I could modify the Inquisitoriates purpose and have them board the Republic in order to get the ship's schematics.

Kieran Devaneaux
Feb 11th, 2005, 10:42:22 PM
The objective is for the Republic to escape, and Artimus to make off with Skyrider. The Skyrider is under Sith control, yes. :D

Update: The Republic - and Kieran - have escaped. One problem, though; so has the Skyrider, with Artimus and his lackeys running the show. The Republic is currently undergoing repairs from the battle with the Skyrider at the shipyards at Mon Calamari; the Skyrider retreated to Corellia, and will probably not return to the public eye until the battle for Bestine heats back up....probably alongside his puppet Imperial officer, Major Demon-Kieran. Kieran himself has returned to Coruscant on his personal transport Devaneaux's Fury...anything you need from the guy, gotta go to Coruscant. He's not going anywhere for a while. :D

My most sincere apologies for being inactive.

I was focused on the playoffs and regional tournament for my hockey team.

Sadly, we got knocked out in the semi-finals. At least we took the Conference Championship title.

*raises hand* Idea just popped up spur of the moment.

Future thread idea: Have the commmando teams that landed on the Republic cause a huge ruckus at the repairyards. I'd oh so love to give the senators a kick in the shins. Having a group of Inquistorial commandos running around at an NR base would give them a lot to talk about.

Kieran Devaneaux

I don't you'd get into Mon Cal, that world is as protected as Coruscant, even more now that we are building new Class ships there. Its in total lockdown. Maybe after the completion of the Mediator and some other ships. Talk to Reshmar and Lion about that.

Teleran Balades
Feb 25th, 2005, 12:37:41 PM
I agree about not being able to get far into the Calamarian shipyards undetected. But then again, none of the commandos actually have to survive, just there presence there would come as a slap in the face for the NR.

Redic Scott
Feb 25th, 2005, 03:02:26 PM
lol well in that case, I don't think there is a problem. As long as you know you wont get far. Bring it on lol.

Though I agree with Redic on the defensibility-side of things, I'd be interested in watching this RP just to see how the Commandoes attempt to circumvent the extensive defenses and checkpoints at Mon Calamari. Don't forget that we've got the Grey Knights and the ODSTs of the New Republic Inquisition headquartered here as well...^_^;

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote up a revised Order of Battle for Mon Calamari, including the permanent New Republic naval forces stationed there, the indigenous Mon Calamari Defense Fleet, and the top-secret intelligence and inquisition operations headquartered there. I also updated the number of troops, land vehicles, floating weapons platforms, and I drew up specifications for the Ackbar-class Command Center, basically a giant, mobile island where we conduct our operations from. (I got the idea for the Ackbar from the Joint Mobile Offshore Base (JMOB) concept, in which a portable island could be constructed off an enemy's coast in a matter of days.)

I also drew up some new security protocols for our forces there. I'll dig around on my other hard-drive and see if I can find the stupid file. :)

Grey Knights? Ha, I already designed Aegis-class battle armor for the SOV.

And the ODST's, nice touch.

It seems that we're both been racing to be the first to take ideas from Halo and 40k. Ever since the prowler and fusion reactor.

I can make my own response, the Black Knights. :D Or, if I decide for this character to rediscover his homeworld, he will find that his homeworld has built a decent-sized fleet of fairly large ships. The designs? The Hiigaran fleet from Homeworld 2. :D

Lion El' Jonson

The remnant of Lion's homeworld is (surprise) Caliban, which is currently just lots of asteroids and one big chunk of the planet which bears a strange resemblance to the Dark Angel's "The Rock" Fortress Monastery.

The remnants of the planet are guarded by an order of several thousand warriors (Deathwing) who, aside from the usual infantry and support roles, also maintain the largest active force of powered armor in the known galaxy. The 1st Company, utilizing Tactical Dreadnought Armor (Terminators), is pretty much the last thing you want to see boarding your starship. :lol

I am, however, trying to integrate the design of the Emperor-class Battleship into a ship. I've always thought lances were tasty. ^_^;

Kieran here, if you couldn't guess. Too lazy to change my name at the moment....anywho: I noticed your 40K love. One thing, though: I saw a Captain Lysander, and saw the avatar (it said Deathwing). Problem - Lysander is of the Imperial Fists Chapter. :D Or are we taking at least some of the 40K connections and throwing them out the window? :D

Lion El' Jonson
Feb 28th, 2005, 04:47:28 PM
Yes, we're throwing them out the window.

Captain Lysander was too cool a name not to use as the 1st Company's Captain. :lol

Captain Shrike, on the other hand...I think I'd have trouble convincing people that lightning-claws are legal in the SW world. ^_^;

Kieran Devaneaux
Feb 28th, 2005, 05:03:02 PM
Good point. Though it MIGHT work. You never know. I think Shrike kicks ass, personally....but I like Lysander better. Termie armor, big hammer, big shield.....*chuckles*

It would be difficult to transfer BFG ships to here, I think. The Imperials and Space Marines both make ridiculously over sized ships. Heck I'd say even a Mars-class cruiser would be about the size of a SD, probably even bigger. I shudder to think what an Emperor- Battleship would be like.

Hehe. I've got a ship design that I've not posted yet that combines aspects from covenant ships with those of IG ships (Think a cut down Covie destroyer with lance batteries and heavy armor plating from IG cruisiers)

Oh, I agree that the scale would be horrendous. I was trying, though, to integrate the design of the vessel; its gun positions, hangar design, combat philosophies, and the like.

But yes, you're completely right about the scale. There's no way that they'd ever accept a ship here with a 10 km-long hangar. ^_^;

Your vessel sounds very interesting, btw.

Mars class cruiser = Star Destroyer
Emperor class battleship = probably Sovereign or Eclipse SSD, if not bigger
