View Full Version : An Imperial Communique (Telan, LV)

Grand Admiral Desaria did so enjoy the rain. He often missed the best storms in his many duties as Supreme Commander of the Imperial Navy, most of his time spent away in the depths of space or in majestic cities when the cascading waters had either yet to fall or already fallen. He enjoyed the pattering of wind and rain on the large window to his back as he completed the day's paperwork.

Today was one full of rare-occassions - the rain was fierce and the wind sharp, the Grand Admiral was able to work from his mountain-estate, and his Chief of Staff just placed before him an official communique (http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?threadid=37628#post703633) bearing the daemonic crest of the Sith Order.

" This is a treat," the Grand Admiral remarked when General Maxim stepped back. Reading over the chryshac, he set his mind to work. He could recall all of the needed facts from memory and quickly penned a reply without the aide if charts or organizational tables. He was, of course, not at all impaired by the briefing he had attended only a week prior on the state of Corellian defenses.

When he had finished, a signal sent from his desktop control console into the chryshad warped every word Desaria had imparted upon in it with his own stylus into rigid yet regal Imperial Gothic font, known many centuries ago as Schrift.

" She that this is delivered immediately."

The Galactic Empire
Office of the Supreme Commander - Imperial Navy

Grand Admiral Baron Telan Desaria

As relayed to me from the Imperial Ambassador to Corellia and Admiral Parck, commander of the Imperial forces deployed to the system, I have taken your concerns to be as a real as they can be. The Empire and its crusade against the Rebels mirrors that of the Sith against the Jedi, but sometimes those causes overlap as now when the military forces of the Republic seek to take Corellia from you.

This cannot be allowed to happen and happen it will not. As per General Order 87379696-A this date, all forces deployed in the Corellian System are under operational alert Delta, our highest state of non-combat readiness.

Deployed to the Corellian System now are four Heavy Destroyer Squadrons amounting to some sixteen Mark IV and V Imperial and Victory-class Star Destroyers along with one hundred twenty escorting vessels. Eight Golan X Space Defense Platforms currently sit in wait in protection of the Corellian Shipyards, the Petropavlovsk being Admiral Parck's command platform.

On the order of twenty fighter and four assault squadrons have been deployed in addition to those Fighter Corps units attached to the Fleet squadrons.

Reinforcements can be dispatched at a moment's notice - Corellia's proximity to the forward bases of the Central Sector Fleet allow for a prompt response.

I am available at any time to speak with you in realtime - you have my HoloNet authorization codes. In a short time, I will arrive at Corellia for an inspection tour.

The Empire remains your vigilant ally.

LV finished reading the communique and sat in silence in her office. It was good they had the Imperials to aid them if they would need it... but there was something in her gut that stirred; the idea of having someone help them left a sour taste in her mouth. It was called pride.

Never the less, she would keep the Imperials, and use them if need be.

She straightened and sent back a reply. It was short and to the point, but she knew that Telan would appreciate the curtness and directness of the reply.

Grand Admiral,

Your services are appreciated. I look forward to your coming.

Woe unto those Republic forces and Jedi that would oppose us.

She sent the message and again sat back in her chair, swiveling it around to look out through the windows. The sun had already set and the night sky had taken it's hold over Coronet. There were no visible stars in the skies due to the brightness of the cities. How long would this brightness last?

((((OOC Note - - -thread takes place immediately after Bestine))))

A Short Time Later...

The Grand Admiral arrived without the usual pomp and circumstance to which he had accustomed himself. His flagship, the pride of the Imperial Navy, was undergoing a recalibration of its newly installed turbolasers and he couldnot simply halt the upgrades to satisfy his want for a grand entrance. He chose instead the simplicity of a yacht the Chanceller, Anar, had loaned him from his own fleet of personal luxury vessels. While only lightly armed, the escort was certainly capable of defense - -the entire 3rd Wing of the Guards flew in broad formation around the cylindrical ship.

Docking slowly, the ship moored at the primary defense platform above the Corellian shipyards. An honour guard had been mustered under Admiral Parck's orders who himself had arrived just in time from a meeting.

After the usual small talk then secretive discussion of the present military situation. Grand Admiral Desaria looked foward to the arrival of the famed Mistress of the Sith Order, Lady Vader. He imagined she would want to speak with him about his arrangements for defense and situably prepared to do so. He waited patiently.

As soon as news of the Grand Admiral's arrival had reached her ears, she ordered that a ship be made ready for her to make the short journey from the planet to the shipuyards in orbit.

As she made her way to the docking bay in one of the top levels of the Palace, and looked over a datapad with security protocals that were taking place in and around the planet. Even the two small satelite planets orbiting the outter regions of the Corellian system had been outfitted with sensetive surviellance and communication towers to warn the inner most planets of incoming vessels and fleets. At the moment, the small planets were also being outfitted with some defense measures to safe-guard the equiptment installed there.

The flight from Corellia to it's shipyard was uneventful. The Lamda-class shuttle made it's way silently from the Palace to the sky, and waited it's turn to pass through the planetary shielding, before angling towards the massive shipyard. It was roughly 20 minutes by the time she arrived to greet Desaria.

Disembarking the shuttle, it was easy to spot the Grand Admiral in his white uniform, waiting with the Imperial laison stationed on the ship yard. She made her way to him. "Grand Admiral Desaria, I'm grateful you could come on such short notice." She gestured for him to walk with her to a small meeting office set within the shipyard. "Unfortunately, times like these usually mean short notices of varying kinds."

" It is an unfortunate reality of Time that meetings occur only when emergencies loom just over the horizon. I am an officer of the Imperial Navy - unfortunate events have been at my door since I first put on a white uniform."

The honour guard accompanied the au pair into the depths of the defense platform Petropavlovsk - on the left strode the tall and some said dashing unchallanged master of the Imperial war machine; the left strode an elegantly dressed lady whose powers for evil and weidling the darker mysteries of the Force were as renowned as the former's battle prowess.

When they arrived at the small office that had been set aside for their visit, the Grand Admiral was careful to take a seat ahead of the desk and politely offered his hand, ever the gentlemen, to aide the Sith Mistress settling into hers. The tone set of equality and cooperation, the Admiral relaxed.

" Corellia is a beautiful world - but I doubt you wish to hear of my asthetic observations. How may I be of service, My Lady?"

Lady Vader

She took his offered hand, and lowered herself into one of the plush seats opposite the one he took a seat in, opting to sit on an equal platform with the Grand Admiral, rather than behind the desk.

"No doubt you have heard from your Imperial laison stationed here that we have hightened security measures throughout the orellian system. It would appear that we have attracted the eye of the New Republic due to an unforunate event caused by one of our own members." She frowned. "He acted without our knowledge and essentially went into a crazed frenzy on the planet Chandrilla."

She shrugged. "I have no love or hate for the people of Chandrilla. In fact, I honestly don't care what their fate may be. But the fact Rivin's acts have brought Corellia into the light of the New Republic, means we may very well be in danger of an investigation and even invasion."

She went on to explain some details (http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37622) of what had transpired, leading to her decision (http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37628) to begin beefing security and safeguarding the Order's assets. Once she was finished with the explainations, she added one more tidbit. "And, it would also seem that an unknown faction has placed a bounty (http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37752) on Rivin, thus attracting more attention to us."

She looked at Telan as he gathered all this information, mulling over it as she spoke, "You see why at this moment and without hesitation we must act and be prepared for the coming storm." She looked out one of the view ports in the office. "Some of our more gifted members, including myself, have sensed something on the horizon of the near future..." She looked back at Telan. "And it is now clambering to our doorstep with no intent on stopping there."

" Mistress Vader," the Grand Admiral said, his intonation as flowery as it had been when he was an aristocratic schoolboy on Centaur. " That it may not want to stop at Corellia is immaterial. It will be stopped. Four squadrons of Imperial warships defend this system along with countless fighters and eight defense platforms. You stand behind a line of orbital fortifications more impressive than those of Eriadu.

" I had heard rumors of Rivin's actions but given them no mind. We were not aware he had acte without your consent - or that he ha acted at all. Our Intelligence services have been...distracted lately.

" It matters not, however. The Rebels will not make it to Corellia when the Imperial Fleet stands before them."

Lady Vader

LV smiled. "I think, perhaps, I just need to hear it directly from you to know that we were untouchable." She nodded her head in approval. 'I think all your fortifications plus our own, will safeguard this planet and the system. I have no doubt we will drive back whatever forces may wish to harm us."

"Will you be staying in the system yourself? Or will you have one of your Commanders stationed here?"

I will be here for a few daysthen return to Thyferra. My inspections, however, will be randomand frequent. Fear not, My Lady - the Sith are safe standing next to the Empire. Only our enemies need tremble."

She nodded. "I thank you, Grand Admiral."

As they both stood to go to their respective offices to finish whatever other business they had, she stopped and ragarded him. "Oh, there is one other matter." he looked at her questioningly. "I was wondering if there might not be any within your ranks that might find the time for a... 'side job' (http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37789)?"

A slow ruthless smile began to creep along her lips.

" Imperial Intelligence always has operatives who cannot get enough work. What can they do for you?"

Lady Vader
Feb 9th, 2005, 06:40:40 PM
"I'm sure your intel has told you that an annonymous source has put a bounty out on Rivin. While I don't know for sure who that is, I have my own intel working on it." She frowned. 'Of course, there are always the hunches."

She continued. "In any event, I want to make life a living hell for Rivin. I want him to be hunted wherever he goes. I want him to be constantly looking over his shoulder, waiting for the next surprise."

Her smile had not faded. 'I'm sure there are some Imperials under your command, some special forces, that can perhaps be pursaded to hunt Rivin?"

The Grand Admiral allowed himself a bark for a laugh.

" Madam Mistress - there are Imperials who wear the red uniform who have waited their whole lives for the gloves to come off. You may count on more than a few taking up the offer."

Lady Vader

"Excellent, Grand Admiral. Most Excellent."

She nodded her head in his direction. "Again, I thank you for coming. Please feel free to venture to the planet if you so desire." She looked in the direction of where her shuttle waited before looking back at the man in the white uniform. 'As for myself, I do not wish to be rude, but I must get back to matters planet-side. There is much work to be done."
