He moved slowly through the grimy hallway of the apartment complex. By any rational standards the place wouldn't even remotely be considered for sanitary living conditions, but it still housed a great deal of the city's lower class. They were holed up like rodents, in what was literally a rat's nest.

The corridor was relatively quiet, aside from the occasional sound of water dripping from the leaks in the ceiling. Puddles had begun to form in the sunken areas of the floor. Lighting up the narrow passageway were overhead lights which were hung few and far between; in some areas the lack of such left the place completely void of light - except for the faint glow of holoscreens creeping out from underneath the shut doors of the building's occupants.

Zzzzt.

Grev grimaced. The light above had been on its last juices, and was now officially dead. He reached a hand for the wall, its ageless chill sending a shiver through his whole body. It was his only mode for stability at this point, with the trash and filth populating the walk it'd be far too convenient for him to stumble; and this was the last place he had wanted to find himself lying on his back.

Now cold, wet, and in the dark, he could only wait. His contact was supposed to be here five minutes ago. He could now add impatient to that list. Cold, wet, in the dark, and impatient, he waited.

Slowly and silently she walked up the stairwell, the sound of someone moaning heard distantly in the darkness. She could feel the blaster holster tighten as she stepped up the stairs that were slick, sandy beneath her boots, and practically fallen apart. It was cold in the building which was no surprise to her considering only the lower vermin of the city lived there and barely could pay for their housing.

She let out a soft sigh of fear as she felt in front of her, the dirty and rough door cold and hard against her shaking fingers. She felt the cold and broken object swing open, a low sound echoing throughout the darkness.

She was mad for even coming there, her true task too crazy to even put into words. Only people with brave hearts could enter such a place, unfortunately she had a fearing heart, but today she was going to make a change.

Jesimae felt sick to her stomach as she walked into the dark hallway to see nothing but darkness. She had good senses and she knew that someone was standing nearby but she wasn’t sure if she should grab her blaster or hide in the shadows for anyone in the building had the potential to be dangerous.

"You're late."

Grev squinted, barely being able to make out the figure which was now standing at the opposite end of the hallway. He couldn't see, but he knew enough to know his company wasn't unarmed. He could only assume that this was the person he was here to meet; he had a hunch. It could be another bum, but chances are they would've fled by now.

He fingered the envelope in his coat pocket, still struggling to keep an eye on his 'associate'.

"I hope you're not empty handed," he toyed with an unlit stim in his free hand. Unfortunately he forgot his lighter, which could have been a bit more helpful right now. "For your sake, at least."

Jesimae silently gasped, someone in the shadows was speaking to her and sudden;y her body went numb and immobile. She couldn't see anything but the darkness and the person standing close to her could easily be felt. She searched the hall only to find nothing but the darkness she had been encountering since the moment she entered the building.

How did this man know she was coming? Did she know him or was it some druggy trying to score another deal? Jesimae wondered if this was the man she was supposed to see, supposed to give him a large lump sum to get the location of her brother, but for some reason she knew this man had no clue who she was nor knew of her real purpose.

Hoping to keep her life, for the sake of another she played along, the man's deep voice sending a shiver down her spine. Whoever he was and whatever he wanted she could feel that he meant business.

"I'm not." She tried to disguise her voice but found it hard when all she could do was feel fear and shudder like a little girl. Her heart nearly flew out of her chest when she saw something in the darkness move, a shadow reaching for something. She did the same, moving her right hand underneath her long black coat feeling the handle of her blaster tightly secured in the holster that was wrapped around her thigh.

Both were blind and searching for some sign that let them both feel at ease to a certain point, searching for a moment when they knew no weapons were going to be drawn.

Jesimae felt the cold handle of the blaster in her grasp and she was waiting for the man to do something stupid that let her know he was going to kill her, but her plans were disrupted when the old door she had walked through moments before slammed shut.

The noise and clatter it made echoed throughout the hall and throughout their ears as they had stood in silence for seconds. The man pulled out a weapon and Jesimae just as fast, but both were pointing their weapons towards darkness and neither knew if they were for sure aiming correctly.

Jesimae's attention, as well as the man, was diverted to the sound of a mans heavy footsteps coming down the hall and before the two could ask the other who they were their silence was broken by his whistling. Jesimae knew that was the man she was searching for coming towards them, but what if the man in front of her was also expecting him? Either way she knew the two men were dangerous and she had suddenly made a stupid decision to even go there.
