View Full Version : Recruitment

TieFighterPilot181st

Alright is it just me or is having four members representing the entire NR military just sad. Really sometimes it makes me want to hit something. I think we need to have a more assertive recruitment drive so we can have real people instead of having to NPC half of our stuff because we only have 4 real people doing things.

Lion El' Jonson
Jan 12th, 2005, 07:53:34 AM
Yes, I agree. I don't know how we're going to work a recruiting drive, but we're going to plan it here anyways. ^_^;

So...any ideas? I've already made a "recruiting poster" in photoshop.

Question- Is there an age block, like the real military?

Example, In america/canada you have to be over the age of 18 to join.

Also, will any NR-ers be willing to do a walkthrough with new people who have never fleet RPed before?

Telan Desaria
Jan 18th, 2005, 04:05:24 PM
there is no age block in the Empire. If you can carry a rifle or man a station, you will be sent to the beginning of your training.

Kieran Devaneaux
Jan 18th, 2005, 05:42:55 PM
That sounds a lot like Cadians from Warhammer 40,000: "If a man can't field-strip his lasgun by the time he's ten years old, he was born on the wrong planet", or something to that effect.

Matt

^_^;

I ment more in the NR.

I think you're trying to convert me, ain't you Mr. Telan?

Kieran Devaneaux
Jan 18th, 2005, 06:22:07 PM
I think there is an age limit in the NR. What, I don't know.....

TieFighterPilot181st
Jan 18th, 2005, 06:24:54 PM
There is no age limit really because most people start their characters out as adults. People dont RP from birth on. Yes, there are people willing to walk you through RPing. If you would like to join the NR please talk to me, i need an officer to command one of my divisions, and ill be glad to answer any questions you have.

Matt
Jan 18th, 2005, 06:38:20 PM
Well, ya see I've been RPing since the year 2000, on again off again, as various charcaters, but I never ya know, fleeted.

Because back in the day it was, well, number crunching...But now I am interested in joining a group that isn't say, "force" based.

Ah-ah, I'm babbling

Kieran Devaneaux

Telan Desaria

Of course. I try to convert everyone.

Anyway, I would be more than happy to help.

Hey, stop doing that Telan, you know we're strapped for real RPers here at the NR. Lol, i really need an officer in my fleet to RP a division.

Lion El' Jonson
Jan 19th, 2005, 02:45:48 AM
Why, hello there.

I still can't believe Cadia fell. 250 million people, trained to fight since they were born...Games Workshop has some explaining to do. :lol

Ah well. At least the Imperial Fleet utterly crushed the Chaos Armada, and now has firm control over the Cadian Sector spacelanes.

Tiberius Anar
Jan 19th, 2005, 02:59:57 AM
Righttttt. Just for IC detail the age limit would, I expect, be the same as that to vote. In the NR that is "the age of reason as held by their speicies". It's somewhere in the Constitution.

And Telan, leave the boy alone. We have enough Rpers to going on with.

Matt: join the NR. They are a good bunch and they know their stuff.

Of course if it doesn't work out you can always defect. I kid I kid.

Reshmar
Jan 19th, 2005, 04:14:58 AM
Of course Cadia fell. They bet the whole planet on there Colonel in an arm wrestling contest with a Bloodthurster.

Mmmm.....The 666th Chapter.

Love those Orbital Lance Strikes!

But, back on topic. Yes, I'd be glad to give him the post under Tie. Matt, welcome to the New Republic. If you have any questions, please post them here or PM any of us...we're all pretty knowledgeable about the same stuff. Tie will likely be setting you up with a division of his taskforce, but you'll have to ask him for the details of your command.

Once again, welcome. :)

I have an Imperial Guard Army
*hears the shocks*

I modeled it after a German Panzer Division and took a Leman Russ Vanquisher cannon and put it on a Tiger Ausf E chassis - - they are my main battle tank.

It is the 116th Division, Death Korps of Krieg. I had to use Steel legion models for the soldiers but I painted on German lapel insignia and each one of my officeres has aiguilettes.

TieFighterPilot181st

Yeah, just PMed Matt to offer him command of a division. Only hoping that he accepts and stuff so i can have real officers commanding ships instead of NPC characters.

Imperial Guard? Somehow I'm not surprised.

I have a chaos fantasy army and a Grey Knight oriented daemonhunters army backed up by a few IG platoons. (though I prefer evil in most respects)

And now on topic, yes another one to pound into dust!!

Somehow, I am not surprised. I take it genetic engineering is not your thing?

Teleran: I like Chaos, too. I tend to play Black Legion or Death Guard, whichever strikes my fancy - butchering people in close combat (Black Legion) or slaughtering them with plague (Death Guard) - and one ten thousand year old walking plague with a Manreaper of Nurgle. *drool*

Anywho.....who'd ya wanna kill?

I believe you'll be....with....Tie?

We're going to have some RPs going very soon, so feel free to jump into those. It'll probably make more sense if you show up in RPs that Tie shows up in, but since he tends to show up in every RP anyways, that won't prove to be a limiting factor. :lol

Lol, it was funny. I should put that in my CT here. Hey Andy can you do that?

Matt, yeah pretty much you can join the RPs im in, which aren't any as of now but when i start, you can join in.

BTW can we work him into Bestine somehow?

Lion El' Jonson
Jan 24th, 2005, 04:07:29 AM
There's probably a way. Allowing his division into this RP would probably be easiest. I doubt it will really make a big difference in terms of the overall balance of power, and this would be a good baptism by fire for him...:lol

That sounded horribly evil. ^_^;

Telan Desaria

TieFighterPilot181st

TieFighterPilot181st
Jan 24th, 2005, 09:26:18 PM
seriously, Telan would you mind if we brought in Matt's division into Bestine, or would that tip the balance of power too much? If it is then we'll find some other assignment for him while we run Bestine.

Tiberius Anar
Jan 25th, 2005, 03:03:19 AM
An alternative would be to have him in the task force that goes to Corellia. We're working on authorising that in the Senate right now.

TieFighterPilot181st
Jan 25th, 2005, 03:58:33 AM
Hmm, haven't heard of that one yet. Well the problem is most of our senior officers are going to be at Bestine or will be elsewhere, there would need to be someone to supervise him especially as he has not fleeted before.

Lion El' Jonson
Jan 25th, 2005, 06:48:22 AM
Tweak!

I haven't told you guys about Corellia. Actually, I haven't told you guys about something huge. I forgot that you didn't have access to Temple Avalon.

Don't worry. It will all become clear very soon. ^_^;

But on another note, the Corellia Incident will probably be taking place after Bestine, so we don't have to worry about any of the officers being occupied RP-wise at Bestine in that RP. :)

Telan Desaria
Jan 27th, 2005, 02:35:32 PM
Eventually - - - -

As far as Bestine - - I have no problem with it. I designed the Centurions to be able to take on an entire New Republic squadron of the line on its own so with two of them there well have plenty of fun. Plus Admiral Hagen's flottila and Commodore Belades squadron - - - it will be an excellent slaughter. The charge of the Light Brigade coms to mind...

TieFighterPilot181st

dont let telan lie he only has the 2 he just wants you guys to think he has a fleet of them.

TieFighterPilot181st
Jan 28th, 2005, 10:11:54 PM
Lol, i dont really care how many as in i want to make him have less. The reason i care is so that i can devise tactics to deal with them. He can have as many as he wants for all i care as long as he is reasonable with them, which he is.

Telan Desaria
Jan 29th, 2005, 12:48:01 AM
Yes - -they are what you might consider superbattleships which is why since they are so monstrous they are so rare. There are right now three, two at Bestine and one elsewhere. They will be built on the order of like one every other Rl month so as not to uberize myself.

If anyone thinks that unfair Ill scale the production back further. They are large and self containted fleets unto themselves - - they can be used as ships of the line as is their purpose. For example, it would take four Mon Cal biggies to even hold a candle to Centurion hence why they are so rare and so long to build.

Lion El' Jonson
Jan 29th, 2005, 08:17:44 AM
Sounds like a fine production rate to me. I'm not really worried about bean counting anymore, but for RP purposes I suppose that a tally must be kept on such superbattleships, just for realism's sake.

One day, Telan, my Viscount is going to go toe-to-toe with your Centurion...then we'll see who has the true superbattleship. :lol

TieFighterPilot181st
Jan 29th, 2005, 10:00:40 PM
That sounds good. I like the concept of the Centurion though. Besides with full on war ready to break out i dont think we'll need to worry about either side having too many ships. :p
