1 Archie Bunker ("All in the Family")

I can't argue with the top three at all. Archie was a character. I would like to know how Buffy, Cartman and the girl from Sex in the city make the the top 20?? It is like what they are better characters than Dick Van Dyke, Barney Fife, Cliff Huxable, and Sam and Diane. I just don't get the logic in those choices. I am currious who voted on this there are a lot of characters who are either still on the air or were on not that long ago.

Buffy didn't deserve to be there. Angel did. Buffy no. I was expecting other characters.

Also, Caine from Kung Fu should be in the top 20.

Neat to see Tony Soprano on there. The Sopranos pretty much birthed all of the high budget drama shows we show see today. His wife didn't need a seperate entry, though.

Scully and Mulder should probably be higher.

I don't put much stock in this list. It seems we need to have a top 10, 20, 50, or 100 of everything these days. I don't get it.

Like most lists of this sort they skew to the older shows, Homer #5? Jean Luc in the 50's?

What I want to know is how did Eric Cartman get so high in the list?

Get out of this thread, you heathen :mneh

I have no idea how Cartman cracked the top 20. I can't get who thinks that Carrie Bradshaw is a better character than Jim Rockford or Edith Bunker??

Great choice for number 1, I love All in the Family.

My personal number 1 is Basil Fawlty (Fawlty Towers).

Oh, and Cartman rules!

The cast of Cheers and the cast of Wings should have been much, much, much higher.

I'd care about Buffy, but I'm not a gigantic nerd, and apart from the terrible movie I think I watched maybe an episode once.

^ I don't fault ya. I never liked Buffy very much. But she was still pretty much a central figure in television from '98-'99.

Overall, it was a pretty good listing. I have those I disagree with as well but still...not too shabby.

Haha, yes you do. You're the spitting image of the man.

And I don't see Peter Falk of Colombo fame up there :( Unless I'm just not looking hard enough.

If Columbo didn't make the list I would have been really mad. He is my favorite character. The only characters I think should have made it were The Odd Couple (how they didn't get on is beyond me) and probably Lassie the show was a huge hit and come on who doesn't like a dog who rescues kids from buildings on fire or takes on wild Mountain Lions :p
