There is the War's Wake thread, where you can post preparing for Bestine. Getting your task force together and so on.

I really think we should go ahead with Bestine. We have often OOC jumped ahead of events taking place IC. If we leave it too long, it will join the long list of roleplays that never got off of the ground. We already completed three threads over Bestine, I'd like this to carry on.

Basically, we run with what we have. We know the Senate will pass the order to attack - thus the NR attacks Bestine like we planned and it all goes ker-blammo.

What I mean is take it by steps at a time. Europe, I think, is the farthest in progressing towards unity, with the EU and using a common form of currency. Granted, not all the countries have joined the EU.

There are too many variables working against 'human patriotism'.

I see 'national patriotism' as being much the same as 'national individuality' and pride in one's country, traditions, culture, identity, etc etc. The French are the French, the English are the English, the Aussies are the Aussies, the Japanese are the Japanese, and so on and so forth. Each culture is unique to their own, and they each have their own set of morals and beliefs.

World unity isn't something that I think will happen any time soon, if at all even. People, regardless of being human, are each brought up so differently that you won't get everyone agreeing on everything.

That all being said, I'm a strong supporter in national patriotism :)

The only way to get people to unite is present them with a common enemy or shared danger. That is why we have nation-states after all. They all began with cavemen banding together for protection- common culture, language and values came after that. Those things are nice enough but they are not sufficient to unite people permanently.

Excactly, I see pretty much two possibliies for any evolving race. Either the unite together for the betterment of all and once the reach a certain technology level, they spread colonies to other planet. Or... a species reaches a technological peak and destroys itself or its habitat. When I look the human race in the long term I see it on the verge of collapsing into self-destruction.

The Senate thread for Bestine is complete. It has been almost SEVEN months since the Senate began its involvemnent and through it all you have been incredibly tolerant of every problem and delay. I would like to thank all of you for that.

And I would like to thank my fellow posters- Lion, Thareena and Kensington (wherever you are)- for creating such a marvelous story. This has been Lion's first foray into the poltical world of the NR and he has aquitted himself admirably (pun intended!). Thareena, constant support and ideas from you have been much appreciated along with your usual high quality posts.

I think we deserve a pat on the back- two complete, realistic and IC hitch free threads. Not only that but two complete, realistic and IC hitch free threads that link to each other! Cause for celebration. Fetch the champagne!

Well I have waffled on long enough. Anyone I have left out, sorry. Now could you military types start killing each other?

P.S. With the Skyrider hijack thread complete, I was up to my scheming again. I'd like to have the commando teams that boarded the Republic (well, hitched a ride anyway.) start up a ruckus at the shipyards that she's going to for repairs.

It'd make an interesting thread for the Senate to discuss. A real slap in the face to those who didn't think the Sov could penetrate so far into the NR and might actually pose a threat.

I think it'll depend on what everybody else wants. Having the naval/army threads seperate seemed to work very well. Given the increased complexity of both the fleets and the armies this time around, I think a two-thread system would work towards reducing confusion.

Like I said, however, it's all up to you. :)

I think that's a really good idea. Make the ground stuff seperate from the Space sceen. It would make post a bit easier. I'm for it.

We can have the thread already made for the ground combate since the Special Teams are already there and just make a new one for the Naval battle.
